Twelve competition-hardened, seasoned veterans of the intrepid BSSGA met with their unsuspecting RISSGA opponents on the sun-drenched links of Sakonnet Golf Club, designed by, and the summer home of, the renowned golf course architect, Donald Ross.
Course conditions were exemplary and the Club was very welcoming to all in attendance.
Led by McEvoy, Rokes, Eagle, Carnazza, Franke, Parker (G.), McGovern, Dacey, Onstott, Whitney (D.), Marandette and Weiner, the Silver Medal again found its way into the secure grasp of the BSSGA, by the narrowest of margins, 15-3.
Collegial company, accompanied by copious amounts of F&B, healed all wounds.

Team Stableford
The first annual Stableford Team Championship went on without a hitch on a lovely summer day in July at Longmeadow Country Club.
Twenty six men and eight women traveled to western Massachusetts to compete as members of the North, South, East, and West teams. The Executive Committee was well represented by Dick Whitney, John Thompson, David Reeves, Dick Nestle, Ben Wellington, and Dan Dacey.
The event was scored by Golf Genius, which was a first for some of the players.
Playing in threesomes, everyone finished in four hours, which made for a very happy and long cocktail hour.
The West, captained by Paul Chiampa, came out on top, which was rewarded by a good payday for the team members in the pro shop.
Tri-State
The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result. On a warm and windless day at Madison Country Club in Madison, CT, the BSSGA once again lost to our colleagues from the Rhode Island Senior Golf Association. The RISGA won the Tri-State for the sixth year in a row.
The RISGA and the CSSGA actually tied, but the RISGA won on a tiebreaker with their sixth team. As the team captain, I take full responsibility for the results, and am not looking forward to answering questions from the Executive Committee in an internal investigation.
On a more serious note, I would like to thank all of the BSSGA members, who traveled long distances just to make this happen. Nobody wanted to stick around for a photo. In the famous words of Bill Belichick, “It’s on to Rhode Island.”
